INT. DOG SHELTER - DAY
Camera opens on the eye of a puppy, BABY VINCENT. Pan out to reveal Vincent in a cage with a dozen other puppies, hoping to be rescued. WALT'S STEP DAD BRIAN appears outside the cage with a SHELTER WORKER.
WORKER- You're in luck. We have one male, yellow dog at the moment.
BRIAN- Thank goodness.
The Worker pulls Vincent out.
WORKER- Here he is.
BRIAN- Hey there, little fella. You're a cute one.
WORKER- I gotta warn you, though. There's something different about this dog. It's like he... sees things.
BRIAN- Doesn't matter. I need a yellow dog. Hey, there boy.
Brian pets Vincent. Vincent has a vision of:
INT. FANCY RESTAURANT - NIGHT
Brian sits with WALT'S MOM SUSAN.
SUSAN- Walt's a sweet boy. He needs a real father.
BRIAN- Are you kidding? I love kids. I've always wanted a son. He'll love my house. I have a big yard. And, and a basketball hoop. And a dog!
SUSAN- Really?
BRIAN- Oh yes, a puppy. A yellow puppy named...
He looks around. On the wall, he sees an autographed photo of Jan Michael Vincent.
BRIAN- Vincent!
INT. SHELTER - DAY
Brian continues to pet baby Vincent.
BRIAN- Yes, this one will do nicely.
EXT. BEACH - DAY
VINCENT sits watching while MICHAEL, JIN, WALT, and SAWYER work on the raft. CHARLIE is walking the beach with CLAIRE, while JACK and KATE walk by, arguing.
JACK- There's no way, Kate. Astronauts have intellect and technology.
KATE- Not if it's an even playing field. Cavemen have brute strength astronauts can't match.
JACK- What if they're strong astronauts?
KATE- They won't be as strong as the cavemen!
ROSE comes walking by, holding her husband's ring.
ROSE- Hello there, Vincent. Aww, is no one paying attention to you today? Such a fine looking animal. Here, Rose will give you some love.
Rose pets Vincent. Vincent has a vision of:
INT. CAR - DAY
Rose is in the driver's seat. Husband BERNARD sits beside her.
BERNARD- Okay, Rose. Ease off the brake, and give it a little gas.
ROSE- I know how to drive, Bernard!
Rose hits the gas. The car flies back and plows into a dog, killing it.
BERNARD- Great! You just killed the Goddard's dog!
ROSE- So what? It's not like dogs have souls!
EXT. BEACH - DAY
Vincent snaps at Rose and runs away.
ROSE- Now what's the matter with that stupid thing?
Black.

Vincent whimpers and runs back to Walt. Walt pets him.
WALT- What is it, boy? You okay?
Vincent barks.
MICHAEL- Hey, Walt, a little help here?
WALT- Fine. Go get it, Vincent!
Walt throws the stick deep into the jungle. Vincents runs after it.
EXT. JUNGLE - DAY
Vincent runs into the woods, losing sight of the stick. He wanders around and runs into ROUSSEAU, who stares at him in her blank, stoned out way.
ROUSSEAU- A dog. I haven't seen a dog in so long. Not outside my hallucinations anyway. Here, doggy.
Rousseau pets Vincent, who has a vision of:
EXT. JUNGLE - DAY
A younger Rousseau holds a gun on an OLDER MAN in a nice jacket.
MAN- Just calm down, okay? Put the gun away.
ROUSSEAU- You are sick. I have to do this.
MAN- I'm sorry. I'm so sorry I brought you on this trip. I didn't know... who could have known!
ROUSSEAU- You are ill. That's why you were with her.
MAN- I was with her because a man has needs. I can't get them from my wife, what better place to get them than a movie star?
ROUSSEAU- I must heal you. I must put you out of your misery.
MAN- But, Lovey, I--
Rousseau shoots him several times. He falls dead.
EXT. JUNGLE - DAY
Vincent whimpers and runs away, deep into the woods.
ROUSSEAU- Oh well. Guess I'll have to find someone else to creep out.
EXT. JUNGLE CLEARING - DAY
Vincent stops to catch his breath. He has a flashback to:
INT. BRIAN'S HOUSE - DAY

A net is thrown over Vincent. The scary sailor known as MR. FRIENDLY stares down on him.
FRIENDLY- Well, well, looks like I bagged me a dog!
Black.
INT. BRIAN'S HOUSE - DAY
Susan enters with Walt, who gasps when he sees Vincent.
SUSAN- Surprise.
WALT- Oh boy, a dog! Is he mine?
SUSAN- He’s Brian’s, but you can play with him.
WALT- Oh boy!
Walt runs over and hugs Vincent, who has a vision of:
EXT. UNITED CENTER CHICAGO - NIGHT
The CHICAGO BULLS are exiting, signing autographs. Susan and Walt are there, and MICHAEL JORDAN walks up.

WALT- Are you my daddy?
EXT. THE OTHERS CAMP - DAY
Mr. Friendly drags the dog into camp.
FRIENDLY- Hey, folks, I found us a puppy. Check it out!
JULIETTE walks over.
JULIETTE- Oh, he's so adorable. I miss having dogs.
BEN walks up.
BEN- What is this? You were supposed to bring back the pregnant one.
FRIENDLY- I know I was, little buddy, but I saw this little fella, and he's so cute.
BEN- (beats Friendly with his own hat over the head) I don't care. We went to all that trouble to make a nursery for the baby.
JULIETTE- He's right. The Professor would have wanted it that way.
BEN- Juliette, hush! We're using code names, remember?
JULIETTE- But he's a dog.
BEN- I know he's a dog. But I think he understands. There's something in his eyes.
FRIENDLY- Just tell him we're using code names. Here that puppy? Code names!
BEN- We can't take any chances with him. Have Alex take him for a walk, then we'll cook him for dinner.
JULIETTE- Cook him? We can't do that.
BEN- I thought all you Hollywood types loved Asian food.
JULIETTE- Well, you got me there.
FRIENDLY- Alex! Get over here.
ALEX, a young brunette, walks over.
FRIENDLY- Take this pooch out for a walk.
ALEX- Aye, aye!
BEN- Shh! Don't give us away. He's a mystic dog. I can tell.
ALEX- Like he'd ever guess who we are, and that we're only being a bunch of jerks to those castaways because years ago, we were abandoned--
BEN- Can it, Alex! Walk the dog.
EXT. JUNGLE - DAY
Alex and Vincent walk together. When they're a safe distance away, Alex bends down to the dog.
ALEX- Listen to me! Run! Run back to your camp, and warn the others. They'll be coming. They're crazy, all of them! You have to prepare yourselves. Okay, puppy?
Alex rubs Vincent's head. He has a vision of:
EXT. HARBOR - DAY

ALEX- So what are you a professor of?
ETHAN- Oh, a little of everything. I work so much, I decided a three hour boat tour would do me some good.
ALEX- I'm here 'cause I've never been on a boat before.
Juliette walks past them toward the boat, in a sequined gown.
ETHAN- Good heavens! That's Ginger, the movie star.
ALEX- And look over there. It's that millionaire, Mr. Howell, and his wife!
The Man from Rousseau and Rousseau, dressed like the Howells, walk by.
ROUSSEAU- Just know, if my hair gets wet, I'm going to be very sad.
MAN- Yes, Lovey.
Mr. Friendly steps off the boat in a blue shirt and captain's cap.
FRIENDLY- Welcome aboard, Professor, Mary Ann. You'll be in back with the rest. We're just about to cast off.
ALEX- Thank you!
FRIENDLY- Where's my first mate? Gilligan!
Ben, dressed as Gilligan, runs toward the boat.
BEN- Coming, Skipper!
FRIENDLY- Untie those lines quickly. We have to cast off if we're going to squeeze this three hour tour in before that squall.
BEN- Sure, Skipper. I just gotta put my comic books away. I just got this cool one with Green Lantern and Flash.
FRIENDLY- Comic books? Gilligan!
Friendly beats him with his hat.
FRIENDLY- Put your comic books away later. Now you try and remember who’s in charge here, okay?
Friendly walks away. Ben’s goofy grin fades.
BEN- Yes, I know who’s in charge. And soon, you will too.

Vincent continues to walk. He sees a figure ahead and runs. It is JIN.
VINCENT- Woof woof!
JIN- Hello, Vincent.
VINCENT- You speak dog?
JIN- Yes, I do.
VINCENT- Rock on.
JIN- Where have you been?
VINCENT- Dude, you'd never believe me if I told.
JIN- That’s cool. I should probably head back to the beach for my nightly ritual of shunning my wife. You coming?
EXT. BEACH - DAY
Jin and Vincent walk onto the beach. Walt calls to Vincent.
WALT- There you are. Where did you go?
VINCENT- Woof woof!
WALT- Good boy, good boy. I'm going to have to leave you soon, but everyone here will take good care of you.
Charlie walks over.
WALT- Isn't that right?
CHARLIE- You bet your knickers, Walt. We'll take good care of Vincent.
Charlie rubs Vincent's head. Vincent has a vision of:
THE VALLEY OF MIDDLE EARTH - DAY
Hundreds of ORCS stand ready to fight as the RIDERS OF ROHAN approach. Charlie is seated on the saddle with EOWYN.
EOWYN- Be brave, Merry, be brave.
EXT. BEACH - DAY
Charlie looks at Vincent.
CHARLIE- What?
Vincent just rolls his eyes and wanders off to take a dump.
